President Koroma urges closer ties with Nigeria

Sierra Leone’s President Ernest Bai Koroma on Tuesday urged his new High Commissioner to Nigeria to ensure mutual economic benefits in the relationship between the two countries.
Nigeria’s status as the largest economy in Africa and the most powerful in West Africa makes it a strategic partner, said President Koroma at a special sending off ceremony for Haja Afsatu Olayinka Kabba who was recently appointed to the position.

She replaces the current Energy Minister Henry Macaulay who was appointed to his position in July 2014.

Ms Kabba, a former minister, will be accredited to seven other countries in addition to Nigeria, including the Central African Republic.

Koroma said the instability in some of these countries requires proactive diplomacy to address them. He said as an envoy to the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas), Ms Kabba must also work in light of the transformational agenda of the sub-regional bloc.

Ecowas is going through a transformation and Sierra Leone should be apart of that, the President said. He added: “I know the responsibility is great but I also know you have the capability to do it.”

Davido baby mama drama continues

I know this story has surfaced online I decided to put it out here for you guys to see.
Birth of Imade Adeleke\r
When the second trimester of Sophias pregnancy was closing, she tortuously announced to me that she was in the family way.\r
My mind was bemused, and so was my soul confused. But I quickly realized that nothing more could be done to alter my status as a father-to-be. I knew that i was not ready to be a dad. Still, I adjusted myself to the realities of my new situation and the consequences of my past personal indiscretions. I made the determination that I was going to be a good dad. I also reasoned that my blunder is not enough pretext to make me a husband. I was just 21. And so I decided to be a responsible dad without being husband to the mother of my baby. I never was in love with Sophia neither was marriage ever in the offing.\r
Without knowing for sure that I was the real dad of the baby, I entrusted Sophia to the services of a private hospital for both pre-natal and post-natal medical cares. An apartment at Lekki was leased for 2 years, and paid for by me. The burden of medical bills, feeding, transportation and sundry costs rested on my person. No family member of Sophia including Uncle Dele Momodu rose to help nor guide Sophia
I own my property at Lekki and had allowed Sophia to stay in the house because she claimed that she knew nobody in Lagos and that her father was deceased whilst her mother was resident in Abuja. For real, Sophia was a drifter without a dime, education nor career. My compassion, ignorance, naivety and poor judgment had combined to make me a victim to a much older lady with super cunning sense that was mixed with a vicious and diabolical nature. I stand accused but calmly accepted my responsibility for the sad misadventure that caused me to be a seat-mate with Sophia on a plane that was flying nowhere.\r
All along, I have only been generous with Sophia without knowing for sure I was the father to the baby she was carrying. On May 14, 2015, Sophia delivered her baby named Imade. It was after Sophia had delivered the baby that DNA testing medically confirmed that I was indeed the biological father of our child named Imade.

T.B Joshua releases alarming 2016 predictions

Controversial Nigerian ‘Prophet’ T.B. Joshua has released a list of bleak predictions for the New Year 2016, particularly directed towards the continent of Africa.

Known for his unconventional antics, Mr. Joshua shunned protocol by cancelling his yearly ‘crossover service’, opting rather to address followers live on Christian television network Emmanuel TV from an undisclosed location.

“There will be large scale scarcity, shortage of food,” Mr. Joshua, who is the Pastor of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) based in Lagos, Nigeria, began.

“As a state, country, continent, we have to go back to the farm to arrest, to alleviate the forthcoming situation,” he emphasised in the ‘prophecy’ which was later posted on the ministry’s official Facebook page.

“I encourage the governments of all nations to invest in agriculture and to grant loans to deserving citizens to augment this effort,” he went on.

Mr. Joshua spoke scathingly about Africa, citing the continent’s inability to manage its teeming resources as its major bane. “The continent of Africa – how much have we disappointed God,” he soberly noted.

Africa is supposed to be the breadbasket of the world. We are supposed to produce a large quantum of food for the world. This is our natural resource base. Food should be our primary export to other continents, food in exchange for technology,” he continued.

Moving on to the political scene, the cleric called on African leaders to “quickly arrest the political situation.”

He stated that the frequency of terrorist attacks in the continent would increase. “More African countries will be under siege by terrorists because of pros and cons in choosing leaders. Mishandling of electoral processes will create a conducive atmosphere for terrorists.”

Mr. Joshua said people will stop investing in politics because of “limited resources and challenges”, adding that this would pave the way for those with genuine intentions to run for political office.

“When you are genuinely called to do the job, you will do it because of your love for it and not because of money,” he stated.

“This year, do what you love. There’s money in love. Money in love brings peace and tranquillity,” he further admonished.

Mr. Joshua’s prediction closed with a prayer for Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari. “He has good intentions but a king’s intentions cannot be carried out properly without the support of the subjects. He needs your support to lead us out of the valley,” the cleric stated.

“The president will do everything to reject revaluation of the naira – which is a good idea from a good leader. But there will be overwhelming pressure which he will not be able to resist. Nigerians, support and pray for your leader. The future is crying for help,” he vividly described.

Despite the worrisome nature of his predictions, Mr. Joshua termed 2016 ‘The Year Of Reward’, stating that believers would be strengthened in the midst of their struggles.

“Start your year on your knees,” he advised, adding it was an ‘instruction from God’ for believers to begin and end their days in heartfelt prayer.

“What you were destined to become, this is the year to become it because this is the year of reward,” the cleric declared while on his knees in a location surrounded by trees and water.

“The voice of weeping, sorrow, setback and sickness shall be silenced, in the name of Jesus Christ,” he said.

A day earlier on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, Mr. Joshua posted a sermon about the dangers of offence on YouTube, a topic he further addressed in the live broadcast.

“Just because you were mistreated, persecuted, lied against, cheated or wrongly accused, as a believer, you do not have permission or the right to hold on to offence,” he counselled.

“Two wrongs do not make a right,” he declared, calling on people to ‘let go of offence’.

When you retain an offence in your heart, you filter everything through it,” he said, explaining that although offence was unavoidable, the response of people to it was what really counted. Mr. Joshua counted several African leaders among his followers, including the newly elected President of Tanzania, John Magufuli, who has been unanimously lauded for the positive strides the East African nation has taken since the start of his presidency.

His television station, Emmanuel TV, was added to the DSTV bouquet in November 2015, bringing the Nigerian cleric to an even wider audience across Africa.

According to an announcement on Facebook, Mr. Joshua is set to return to ministration at The SCOAN after a lengthy seven month absence this Sunday 4th January 2016.

Ebola outbreak ends in Guinea, Says WHO.

he World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the end of the Ebola outbreak in Guinea, two years after the epidemic began there.

Guineans are expected to celebrate the landmark with concerts and fireworks.

The disease killed more than 2,500 people in the West African state, and a further 9,000 in neighbouring Liberia and Sierra Leone.

However, Liberia has had new cases since the declaration.

country is considered free of human-to-human transmission once two 21-day incubation periods have passed since the last known case tested negative for a second time.

"It's the best year-end present that God could give to Guinea, and the best news that Guineans could hope for," Ebola survivor Alama Kambou Dore told AFP news agency.

Local health workers echoed a warning from the WHO that vigilance was still vital despite the mood of celebration.

"We have to be very careful, because even if open transmission has been stopped, the disease has not been totally defeated," said Alpha Seny Souhmah, a Guinean health worker and Ebola survivor.
n a statement, the WHO congratulated the Guinean government and people for showing "extraordinary leadership in fighting the epidemic".

But it also noted that there had been 10 new small outbreaks of the virus between March and November.

"The coming months will be absolutely critical," said Dr Bruce Aylward from the WHO's Ebola response team.

"This is the period when the countries need to be sure that they are fully prepared to prevent, detect and respond to any new cases."

The WHO will maintain surveillance and outbreak response teams in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia throughout 2016, Dr Aylward added.

This is another major milestone in the bumpy road to the end of the worst Ebola outbreak in history. It all started in Guinea when the virus emerged, probably from fruit bats, in a rural community deep in the forest.

Guinea saw far fewer cases than neighbouring Liberia and Sierra Leone, yet the virus has been circulating there for longer than anywhere else.

I remember travelling through Guinea at the height of the outbreak, and there was still a lot of denial about Ebola; people told me it was a made-up disease. Suspicion is still rife in some communities, and many simply do not trust their government.

Ebola has made a comeback in Liberia after the country twice declared the end of the epidemic, and there is every possibility it could return to Guinea. It will be up to communities to keep the killer virus at bay, by reporting suspicious deaths and encouraging loved ones to seek treatment if they show symptoms of Ebola.

But medical facilities also need to respond quickly, which will happen for the extra 90-day "heightened surveillance" period. A key question is what will happen after that, particularly for the thousands of Ebola survivors who are still facing health problems.
